Synopsis
This amendment clarifies that in addition to a child being automatically eligible for Purchase of Care upon placement in foster care, a child is also automatically eligible for Purchase of Care when the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families (DSCYF) certifies that a child is otherwise in need of Purchase of Care. These situations may include when a child’s family is involved with DSCYF’s Division of Family Services (DFS) and the child would be in foster care if not for being in the care of a family member or fictive kin.
